Trinity Insulation FAQs

Is any part of Trinity on the National Register?

No, nothing inside the town limits. The one listing that carries the town's name, the Harper House from about 1815, is labeled vicinity on the state list, so it stands outside the town limits. The college that gave the town its name moved away in 1892 and left no listed campus behind. Randolph County keeps a landmark commission, named on the state's 2023 list of local boards. Its review covers outside changes to designated landmarks, while attic insulation happens indoors.

What needs a look before insulating one of the older houses here?

The wires, the brick and the roof. The town was incorporated in 1869, so a few houses may be old enough for porcelain knob-and-tube circuits from before about 1930. Those are unsafe to bury in loose fill, and an electrician deals with them first. An old brick flue in the ceiling gets its gap covered in aluminum and sealed with high-heat caulk. Sheet metal then rings the brick so no fill touches it. Last comes the roof: a damp spot in the old layer means a leak that the roofer repairs before any work starts.

Does attic insulation in Trinity need a permit?

Trinity City Hall can say whether Randolph County Building Inspections, the city itself or another office handles permits in Trinity; ask before work starts.
