Forest Hills Insulation FAQs
Are any Forest Hills homes listed as historic?
No house in the village appears on the state's National Register list. The 2021 county survey did single out two Forest Hills houses, a round house of about 1972 and a chalet-style house of about 1976, as possible Study List candidates pending more research. That is an early step, not a listing, and a full listing would still not restrict a private owner. In the 2023 state roster of commissions, Jackson County has one and the village has none.
I rent out a Forest Hills house near the university. Can I get the attic insulated?
Yes. Work on a rental's attic is up to its owner, so you set the job up and we pick a day that works for you and your tenant. We need a clear path to the attic hatch and to the rooms under it. Anything tenants have stored up there comes out first. ENERGY STAR calls for a level blanket of insulation without thin spots, and stacked boxes leave holes in it.
Does attic insulation in Forest Hills need a permit?
Forest Hills Village Hall can say whether Jackson County Building & Fire Permits, the village itself or another office handles permits in Forest Hills; ask before work starts.
